While superb movie trailers can wow us in a second and make us jump from our seats to rush to the nearest theater and buy a premiere ticket for that upcoming movie we just watched a teaser of, a badly edited and poorly created movie trailer can make also make us tell our friends to not watch that particular movie. We might even post in Facebook or Twitter how disappointed we were upon seeing that sneak peek.
This may also contribute to the movie being a flop, and the low gross is hard to project, even from the international market. Here’s a couple of the worst movie trailers last 2010.
Country Strong starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Leighton Meester and Tim McGraw
Though we know that Paltrow and Meester are just charming actors that will entice viewers to watch the movie upon just seeing that they are a part of it, the trailer is not going to convince you to watch it at all.
Wrapped up in a conflict of a has-been, fallen country star that is now entwined with a rising country singer to the manager that is the husband, it could not even get any worse when another country singer was born in the persona of a former beauty queen. And the trailer didn’t seem to get that across.
Grown Ups starring Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Salma Hayek
The movie is hilarious. We already know that when we see an Adam Sandler film. But we have to give credit for Sandler’s appeal or else the movie might have no audience because of its trailer.
Because of the death of their former coach in basketball when they were 12, five friends unite on a 4th of July holiday and try to get along with each other again. This time, with their extended family of parents, spouses and children that prove that time does not change friendship.
Charlie St. Cloud starring Zac Efron
One of the mistakes a movie trailer creator might make is not being able to capture the attention of the audience—and worse, not making a mark. Charlie St. Cloud definitely does not have a recall.
It’s a good thing that Zac still has a following because of his High School Musical image, or else the movie could have grossed none.
